What happens when the vessel wall fails
A protective lining
Endothelial cells line every blood vessel, holding fluid and cells where they belong.
Fluid begins to escape
Under infection or injury, the lining loosens. Leak, edema and inflammation follow.
A signal to stabilize
Tie2 receptors on endothelial cells regulate barrier strength. Activating them sends a stabilizing signal.
Organs protected
The vessel wall becomes more structured, leakage slows and surrounding tissue can recover.
Pegevongitide (AV-001)
A first-in-class, fully synthetic PEGylated peptide targeting the Tie2 receptor, designed to enhance vascular stability and barrier function.
Current approaches to critical illness largely manage the consequences of vascular leak. AV-001 is designed to address the barrier failure itself.
